The cacao in this recipe makes them a rich, chocolatey consistency, which is the perfect snack / pre workout snack for the holidays. Rolling them in the coconut sugar and cinnamon helps them not to stick together in the fridge, which is really nice. I like to top mine off with a little extra almond butter because, why not?

Ingredients
5 dates, soaked in warm water for about 10 minutes
1/4 cup cacao powder
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup almond butter
1-2 scoops protein powder (unflavored, vanilla, or chocolate
1/4 cup almond milk
2 tsp pure maple syrup
1/4 tsp pure vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp coconut sugar
1 Tbsp coconut sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon for rolling
Steps
Add all ingredients, besides the tablespoon of coconut sugar and teaspoon of cinnamon for rolling, into a food processor and process until mixed to a thick consistency.
Place mixture in refrigerator for about 30 minutes, this makes them easier to roll.
Mix cinnamon and coconut sugar together on a plate. After mixture is cooled, roll 1 tablespoon of mix into a ball, then roll in the cinnamon and coconut sugar until coated.
Store in the refrigerator and enjoy for a chocolatey snack!
