Happy Halloween!!! These oats legit taste like cold apple pie. I wanted to try a new overnight oats recipe other than my usually chocolate hemp, so I just through some ingredients together that I had in my dorm and they somehow turned out bomb. You can do a little bit less milk for a thicker consistency - I would do around 2/3 to 3/4 of a cup if you want thicker oats. The chia seeds, protein powder, and oats all soak up a lot of the almond milk, so that is why I like to add more!
Tip: if you don't want to wait overnight for these, chia seeds soak up liquid pretty quickly so add an additional tablespoon and check on them after about an hour.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 2 C. rolled oats
- 1/4 C. chia seeds
- 2 C. almond milk (or any other milk)
- cinnamon (measure with your heart, I probably used about a tablespoon)
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3-5 drops liquid stevia, or 1 packet powdered
- 1 large apple
- optional: 1-2 scoops unflavored or vanilla protein powder
Top with...
- peanut butter, or any nut butter
- maple syrup
- pecans
Steps
1. Put all ingredients besides the apple and toppings into a jar or container and shake until well combined
2. chop up apple into small pieces (about 1/4 to 1/2 inches cubed) and add into mixture
3. shake again and set in fridge overnight, add desired toppings when ready to eat
